Corporate Social Responsibility

Resorts World Manila may be known as “The Place to Play,” but as a company, it takes social responsibility seriously. Within its first year of operations, RWM has already launched its CSR Program.

For its pioneer CSR project, RWM partnered with Up With People, an international organization that gathers young people from around the world and brings them to different destinations to participate in various community service projects, perform in a musical show and experience a global education curriculum.

In 2010, RWM sponsored the Philippine visit of 85 delegates of Up With People, aged 18 to 29, from 20 countries around the world. The delegates worked with various local organizations, including the Philippine Christian Foundation (PCF), Gawad Kalinga-Baseco, Bukas Palad, Kapit-Bisig Para sa Ilog Pasig, Kaibigan Foundation and the Ronald McDonald House of Charities, and joined various activities where there got to serve the families in some of the most impoverished communities in Metro Manila.

The activities exposed the delegates—future leaders in their own communities—to the realities faced by urban poor families. At the same time, it brought hope to the beneficiary communities to see young people from different countries taking an interest in their plight and actively participating in projects that will help improve their lot.

As its commitment to the well-being of its guests, RWM promotes responsible gaming practices and has strict policies on underage gaming. RWM has tied up with Life Change Recovery Center, a professional counseling and treatment facility, to help guests address gaming-related problems on the onset.
