Luck-inviting food & music, great prizes highlight RWM’s Mooncake Fest

From a fairy believed to come out and dance on the moon's shadowed surface, the Moon Festival blossomed through the years as more than a homage to the brightest moon. It has turned into the sweetest food feast. Today, our Chinese friends celebrate the festival not only with dances and moon gazing. Most practiced recently, they feast over mooncakes, translating this custom into the Mooncake Festival.

This year, the Mooncake Festival, also known as Mid-Autumn Festival, falls on September 12. Celebrating this great Chinese tradition, Resorts World Manila puts together P24 million worth of prizes for a month-long item redemption program, one night of fun for its Silver members, a sumptuous buffet for its loyal gamers and a three-day high tea for all its members.

The Mooncake Festival Point Race in itself is continuing a tradition of the biggest monthly prize redemption promotions of Resorts World Manila. From the GR8 Prize Raid in August, the Mooncake Festival Point Race offers P24 million worth of prizes to all members who piled up enough gaming points on their membership cards. This month, 75 pieces of Samsung 40-inch Smart LED television sets worth P64,900 each, 15 Porsche Design gift certificates worth P120,000 each and 15 Piaggio scooters worth P140,000 each are up for grabs among a long list of amazing prizes.

The promo runs from September 1 to 29, 2011. Members who gathered enough points can redeem their prizes on September 30. They can also attend the raffle draw on the same day, starting 12 noon at Bar 360 and get the chance to win another set of special prizes.

The Moon Festival evolved through the years from a simple moon-gazing activity to a feast of the sweetest mooncakes.
Thus, the tradition now called The Mooncake Festival.

Another tradition, the monthly slot party also commemorates the Mooncake Festival this month with Mooncakes and Lanterns: The Silver Slot Party. The top 400 silver slot-playing members and their guests will be given invites to enjoy a night of good food, great entertainment and another list of exciting prizes including Samsung Netbooks and gift certificates from Technomarine, Porsche Design, and Adidas. Mooncakes and Lanterns is on September 29, 5:00 PM at Bar 360.

The Mooncake Festival day is also believed as the end of the harvest season. To celebrate this day, Resorts World Manila’s restaurant for the VIPs, Maxims Dining, celebrates “A Mid-Autumn Affair”. Select Silver, Gold and Platinum members feast over Asian dishes and mooncake specialties aboard performances from a surprise Chinese artist. “A Mid-Autumn Affair” is on September 12, 6:00 PM at Maxims Dining, located on 2nd floor of Maxims Tower.

Opening the mooncake festivities to all RWM members meanwhile, Bar 360 holds The Mooncake Festival High Tea. Members just need to earn 500 points from September 12 to 14 to join the three-day high tea every 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Bar 360. Aside from the best mooncakes, Asian buffet and a Chinese entertainment are all ready for the members to indulge with.

As our Chinese friends gather with their families to admire the brightest and the roundest moon, farmers culminate the harvest season, others carry brightly lit lanterns, burn incense, or do the dragon dance, let’s offer a toast with hopes of good fortune and good life as sweet as mooncakes.

Happy Mooncake Festival everyone!
