Third batch of Miss RWM finalists defied the odds to be beauty queens

The photoshoot is about to wrap up and the girls are now enjoying the waters of the Maxims Pool. But one more challenge is up! Wearing their waterproof makeups, the girls swam underwater bearing those smiles, flashing grace at the glass wall of the infinity pool. In a certain count, these girls resurfaced from the water and gave another beauty queen pose.

It may sound too physically challenging but not a single complain from the girls. After all, the cameras are still rolling.

As the girls proved that sun and water are no match to their elegance and grace, we were equally impressed with the interesting facts we learned from these beauty aspirants. From a Muay Thai athlete, to a girl who came from a family of missionaries, a motocross fan, and a self-confessed "timid" beauty queen, the third group of finalists broke the norms of personalities expected from beauty queens.

From a former employee at the Office of the Dubai State Secretariat, a flight attendant, a model, a nurse, and a tourism student, here is the third batch of finalists for Miss Resorts World Manila 2011

Candidates 21 & 22. Liezl Verses & Sabrina Watts

No.21. Liezl Verses, 26, came close to representing the country in an international beauty pageant when she finished First Runner-up at the 2007 edition of Binibining Pilipinas. Asked by the famous Venus Raj question of that one biggest mistake she did, Liezl shared not giving her 100 percent during Binibining Pilipinas. "But I am ready this time", she added promptly referring to her participation to Miss Resorts World Manila.

No.22. Sabrina Jane Watts, 18, is fondly called by her friends in the modelling industry as "Little Tyra" for her close resemblance to the famous international ramp model and TV host Tyra Banks. Sabrina recently won Best in Ecowear and went on to compete in the finals of Mr. and Ms EcoTourism Philippines 2011- The Mossimo Bikini Summit. She also represented the Philippines in Miss Teen World held in the USA last year.

Candidate 23. Jenny Panganiban

No.23. Jenny Panganiban, 18, is a registered nurse from Antipolo who finds fulfillment in helping her patients. When asked what sets her apart from other nurses, Jenny said that it's her sincerity on helping people who needs care. "There are a lot of prettier girls in this pageant but I can say I represent Filipina beauty. I can be the ambassadress of Resorts World Manila because I can be knowledgeable about anything", she further said.

No.24. Jo Ann Peria, 24, made it to the TOP 12 of Mutya ng Pilipinas 2009. Representing the entire province of Palawan, Joann comes from a family of missionaries. When asked if she wants to follow the footsteps of the members of her family, she answered yes without hesitation. "I want to inspire people", Joann explained.

Candidates 24 & 25. Jo Ann Peria & Angelie Twigg

No.25. Angelie Twigg, 21, is a British airline flight attendant. Angelie chose to move back to the Philippines to let her career take off. Striked by the question of offering something what other contestants in the pageant can't; "I can say that I'm original, all natural", Angelie replied. "Anyone who's had a hard day at work only needs to come and visit the casino and mall. Resorts World Manila is a place to live and let go", she further said upon instructions on promoting Resorts World Manila.

No.26. Rosalyn Clavano, 20, is originally from Cebu and a Nursing graduate at the University of San Carlos. Rose is admittedly timid but is working on her confidence to succeed in this beauty pageant. Helping her achieve that are encouragement from her friends. "I'm timid but I can easily get along with everyone", Rose shared.

Candidates 26 & 28. Rose Clavano & Atheena Taccad

No.27, Athena Catriz, 20, (photo to be available soon), is a Mass Communication student at the Assumption College in Makati. Showing her people personality, Athena majored in Media Production. She is also working as an Advertising Executive in a publishing company making her resume ideal for a beauty queen whose role is to promote Resorts World Manila.

No.28, Atheena Kirie Taccad, 21, is so proud of her hazel eyes given the fact that she is a pure blooded Filipina. "Those are not contact lenses!", she exclaimed. Atheena represented Quezon province for Miss Teen Philippines 2005 and finished as Third Runner-up to Miss Island Philippines 2008. "I'm a fighter. I'm not tall but I can fight for myself and become Miss Resorts World Manila", Atheena said.

Candidates 29 & 30. Jinky Serrano & Lau Trasmano

No.29, Jinky Serrano, 20, feels happy with the support given to her by the local government of Mabalacat in Pampanga. After several beauty pageants including Miss Teen Philippines, Jinky said that it's time for her to "level up" that's why she joined Miss Resorts World Manila.

No.30, Laurice Venice Trasmano, 26, is a band vocalist. She stayed in Dubai, UAE from 2007 to 2008 while working as an employee of the Office of the State Secretariat but she decided to go home to pursue her passion for music. Lau also finished Organizational and Systems Development at De La Salle University. Asked to describe herself, she said she is "an empowered and an independent woman".
