Ogie Alcasid to celebrate birthday through a concert at NPAT

"Ang Saya!", Ogie Alcasid ecstatically said when asked by the media about his upcoming birthday concert and his first time to perform at the Newport Performing Arts Theater here in Resorts World Manila. "...malaki ang theater and I heard ang dami ng local artists ang nakapag perform. For sure it will be a memorable birthday celebration", the singer-songwriter added.

In a press conference at Cafe RepubliQ at Newport Mall last August 4, 2011, Ogie Alcasid vigorously answered questions from the press about the staging of “CELEBRATION: A Birthday Concert” this August 23, 2011. The parade of guests on what will be a very entertaining night, not only of music, but also of comedy includes “The Wonder Boys” comprising Boy 2 Quizon, Antonio Aquitania and Michael V. The “Wonder Boys” is a spoof of a popular Korean female group created for their sitcom in GMA 7 “Bubble Gang”. “I’m not just a musician, I am also a comedian”, Alcasid said.

A different twist on a typical Ogie Alcasid production is the addition of the former ramp model and now TV actress and singer Solenn Heussaff. Fresh from being FHM’s fifth sexiest woman in the Philippines, Solenn will be setting the stage on fire alongside  “Are You the Next Big Star?” champion and GMA Artist Center talent Geoff Taylor.

Attending the presscon with his 5 months pregnant wife and Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez, Ogie also kept members of the media hanging as to who his surprise guest will be.

Being the President of OPM (Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit), Ogie thanked Resorts World Manila for its continued support on local performers. “Bihira na lang ‘tong mga nag po-produce ng lokal na concert, so I’m thankful of Resorts World Manila for the support given to our local artists”, he said. “CELEBRATE” is part of the RWM Concert Series which previously featured top local performers Lani Misalucha, Christian Bautista, Lea Salonga, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Basil Valdez, Pops Fernandez, and Ryan Cayabyab.
