16 MMA fighters weigh in, PXC 24 all set at NPAT

Sixteen of the world's prized Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighters weighed in a day before the anticipated PXC (Pacific X-Treme Combat) 24 to be held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila on June 11 at 6pm. The weigh-in, held at the Newport Plaza, was attended by no less than MMA superstar and half-Filipino Brandon Vera.

Fans are in for an action-packed evening as MMA champs face off using jiu-jitsu, judo, karate, boxing, kickboxing and wrestling techniques. PXC 24 will have eight fight cards, featuring modern-day gladiators from across the globe.

No less than World Extreme Cagefighting 13 Heavyweight Champion Brandon Vera will be at the cage side to witness the action. During the weigh in, Brandon cheered on and took pictures as the 16 fighters tipped the scales.

PXC 24’s main bout will be the rematch between Roque Martinez and Kelvin Fitial at the Open Category event. The two had met at PXC 22 held January of this year, with the 5-round fight ending in a draw. The Saturday clash will finally decide who reigns supreme.

Facing off in the 155-pound category, meanwhile, are Korean Tae Kyun Kim and American JJ Ambrose. Guam boys Alex Castro and Harris Sarmiento will battle it out in the 150-pound division. Also in this category are Rafael Diaz, who faces Kim Jang Yong, and Rolando Perez versus Travis Bayer.

Filipino Rogelio Plomeda will square off with Guam-based Josh Alvarez in the 135-pound category. Another Filipino, Carlos Tiongson, will see action against American Ricky Camp in the other match. Joe Taimanglo and Young Jim Kim will likewise battle it out, using brawn and strategy to outclass the opposition.
