Ryan Cayabyab turns presscon into a mini concert

Music maestro Ryan Cayabyab could not contain his excitement about his upcoming concert at Resorts World Manila, Ryan Cayabyab and Friend's, and turned the June 1 press conference into a well-applauded mini concert.

With his “friends” Dulce, Bituin Escalante, Jett Pangan, and the talented Ryan Cayabyab Singers, Passion at Maxims Tower played host to a mini variety show.

“I’m just so proud of this dream team”, the renowned musician said as he himself introduced his co-performers in the said concert. Opening the press conference was a medley of Burt Bacharach hits “(There’s) Always Something There to  Remind Me,” “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again,” “Do You Know the Way to San Jose,” “What the World Needs Now is Love,” and “I Say a Little Prayer for  You,” joyously performed by the Ryan Cayabyab Singers.

“Burt Bacharach and George Gershwin songs were my big influences in my own music,” he shared.

Not to be outdone, Dulce performed a soulful rendition of Dionne Warwick’s “Please Make Him Love Me,” while Bituin Escalante was in top form with her powerful performance of Katy Dela Cruz’s “Pahiram Ng Isang Kanta.” Jett Pangan shed his rocker persona and serenaded the audience with his version of the well-loved song from the musical Kismet, “Stranger in Paradise.”

"Ryan Cayabyab and Friends" is the June offering of Resorts World Manila’s Concert Series, which previously featured OPM greats such as Lani Misalucha, Christian Bautista, Lea Salonga, Zsa Zsa Padilla, and Basil Valdez. The show is set to be staged at the Newport Performing Arts Theater this June 28 at 8:00 pm.

Mr. C noted that director Floy Quintos is equally excited about the show. “He’s already thinking of what he’s going to put up in that huge LED wall. The show will not be only a night of music, it will also be a visual feast,” he enthused.
