RWM hosts Asia’s richest poker tourney
A poker tournament with HKD $1 million buy-in is something top-notch players in Asia fancy. Their dreams come to reality as "Manila Millions" has just been created to dazzle every poker spectator all over the world even attracting the likes of Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan.
The Asian Poker Tour has announced the creation of “Asia’ richest poker tournament” which will be held during APT Philippines at Resorts World Manila on Friday, April 20, 2012. “Manila Millions” will feature a HKD $1 million (USD $129,000) buy-in, which makes it the largest buy-in tournament ever witnessed in all of Asia.
The prestigious event is set to take place amidst the luxurious surroundings of Resorts World Manila’s Genting Club. Around 25-30 players are expected to participate with the HKD $1 million buy-in each. A number of top professionals have already confirmed their attendance. These include Phil Ivey, an American professional poker player who has won eight World Series of Poker bracelets and appeared at nine World Poker Tour final tables and Tom Dwan, who has appeared on NBC’s National Heads-Up Poker Championship and the 5th and 6th seasons of Game Show Network’s High Stakes Poker.

Making the announcement is Mr. Hakan Dagtas, Resorts World Manila’s Vice President for Casino Operations, saying that Resorts World Manila and Genting Group are fully committed to the development and growth of poker in Asia. “The Manila Millions which will form an integral part of our Genting Poker League is just the first of many poker initiatives we have planned,” he said.
Resorts World Manila, which in less than three years has grown to become one of the busiest poker rooms in the region now offering players some of the best cash and tournament poker action to be found anywhere. “We have the perfect combination for growth – particularly in the Philippines – a fast developing poker scene that can also offer players some of the very best internationally recognised beaches, resorts and recreational activities all within easy commute,” added Mr Dagtas.
“The Asian Poker Tour and Resorts World Manila are going to make poker history once again and this time it’s by staging Asia’s biggest super high roller event. A buy-in of this magnitude will put the Philippines on the world poker map and the APT is excited to once again be working with Resorts World Manila to make it all possible,” Jeff Mann, CEO of the Asian Poker Tour, on the other hand, enthused.
Meanwhile, APT Philippines runs from April 19 to 25, 2012 and will be headlined by the USD $2700 buy-in Main Event.
