We used wood panels with hidden, color changing LED lights. (It was) as simple as that. This citation came after the <strong>Perspective Awards&nbsp;<\/strong> recognized the theater's superb design with a<strong> Professional Interior Design Certificate of Excellence<\/strong>. And as a rousing welcome to 2012, <strong>BroadwayWorld Philippines<\/strong> declared NPAT as <strong>Best Theatrical Venue<\/strong>. <br \/><br \/>As a nod to Sy's vision, Perspective Awards cited the &ldquo;c<em>olor-changing LED lighting within the ceiling coves which enhanced the ambience<\/em>.\" NPAT is the only theater and the only entry from the Philippines who made it to the winner's circle, which was comprised mainly of architectural wonders from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan. <br \/><br \/>To top off this achievement, NPAT also made it to the top six contenders in the Leisure and Entertainment class of the <strong>Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.rwmanila.com\/uploads\/NPATSmall4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"356\" height=\"236\" \/> <img src=\"http:\/\/www.rwmanila.com\/uploads\/NPATSmall5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"188\" height=\"236\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><br \/>&ldquo;<em>I have been to many theaters. They were all very grand (and) elaborately designed. This one is different in the way that it is sensitive to client needs,<\/em>&rdquo; says Sy. With Resorts World Manila&rsquo;s efforts to be pro-environment, the use of LED lighting was lauded for being cost-effective and environment friendly. <br \/><br \/>Notable personalities were likewise impressed with the theater&rsquo;s grandeur. Joanna Ampil for one, a renowned stage actress who has performed in the best stages across the globe, was in awe of the theater when she first saw it during <strong>The Sound of Music<\/strong> rehearsals. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s massive. And it&rsquo;s an honor to perform on that stage,&rdquo; Ampil enthused. <br \/><br \/>Even theater lovers agree. In the <strong>2011 BroadwayWorld Philippines<\/strong> awards, NPAT ran away with most votes and won as <strong>Best Theatrical Venue<\/strong>. BroadwayWorld is a website dedicated to featuring plays and musicals around the world and its Philippine page broke online traffic records when the voting was opened to the public. Known to the public as a comedian but is also a celebrated stage actor,<strong> Leo Martinez<\/strong> will portray the role of Max Detweiler with <strong>Miguel Faustmann<\/strong> and <strong>Robbie Guevarra<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ariel and Leo, together with 8 other new cast members were introduced in a press conference at Passion, Maxims Tower last January 5, 2012. If I will be asked of a dream theater role, it would be as Captain Georg von Trapp. I watch it every year. I love the movie. I grew up watching it. It&rsquo;s almost like the Ten Commandments kind of thing (for me). When I found out that they want me to do the role, I was really excited and very happy to say the least. <br \/><br \/><br \/><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">You&rsquo;ve done a lot of TV series and movies, how different are your preparations for a stage play like this?<\/span><br \/><\/strong><br \/>It&rsquo;s very different when you&rsquo;re in theater. There is a different kind of discipline. You need to rest, for your voice, you have to know your lines, know your songs because obviously there are no take twos, take threes, take fours. You have to give energy, a certain amount of energy that the people could feel. It takes a certain kind of discipline to be in theater.<br \/><br \/><br \/><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Have you watched The Sound of Music in Newport Performing Arts Theater already? <\/strong><\/span><br \/><br \/>Yes I have - with Audie and Joanna.<br \/><br \/><br \/><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>So you&rsquo;ve already seen how big the theater is...<\/strong><\/span><br \/><br \/>Huge! I was kind of, wow man, this is probably the biggest stage I&rsquo;ll ever be on. It&rsquo;s really quite intimidating... you have to know how to make yourself so big to fill that stage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.rwmanila.com\/uploads\/SOM4_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"491\" height=\"369\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ariel Rivera was very serious moments before he burst to laughter when asked if he's<br \/>comparing notes with the two other Capt Georg von Trapps. Ariel said \"They gave me a<br \/>DVD (to watch their performances) but I should be able to come up with my own interpretation\".<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Captain Georg von Trapp is a strict, stern role plus you are asked to do a little bit of a British accent- what are your preparations for these requirements?<\/strong><\/span><br \/><br \/>It&rsquo;s my biggest challenge actually - the accent (laughs). The songs are popular but the accent is something that I need to work with. As Filipinos, we don&rsquo;t really have the British accent and this something that I have to practice. <br \/><br \/><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><br \/>How does it feel to be working with stage actors like Joanna Ampil and the others?<\/strong><\/span><br \/><br \/>I am very overwhelmed. I am nervous to start this project. I know I can do it. It&rsquo;s just overwhelming to do a stage play with these veteran actors like Audie, Joanna, and Leo Martinez. I will just do my best. <br \/><br \/><br \/><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Which part of the play are you excited to perform as Captain Georg von Trapp?<\/strong><\/span><br \/><br \/>I think it&rsquo;s the revelation of the Captain&rsquo;s love for Maria. I&rsquo;ve always said that as a Filipino, we are so talented in general and I&rsquo;m thankful that they used us exclusively for this play. <br \/><br \/><br \/><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>What do you think is the greatest message\/ value that The Sound of Music can impart to the audience?<\/strong><\/span><br \/><br \/>For me, family eh. When I found out that they want me to do the role, I was really excited and very happy to say the least. <br \/><br \/><br \/><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">You&rsquo;ve done a lot of TV series and movies, how different are your preparations for a stage play like this?<\/span><br \/><\/strong><br \/>It&rsquo;s very different when you&rsquo;re in theater. There is a different kind of discipline. You need to rest, for your voice, you have to know your lines, know your songs because obviously there are no take twos, take threes, take fours. You have to give energy, a certain amount of energy that the people could feel. It takes a certain kind of discipline to be in theater.<br \/><br \/><br \/><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Have you watched The Sound of Music in Newport Performing Arts Theater already? <\/strong><\/span><br \/><br \/>Yes I have - with Audie and Joanna.<br \/><br \/><br \/><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>So you&rsquo;ve already seen how big the theater is...<\/strong><\/span><br \/><br \/>Huge! I was kind of, wow man, this is probably the biggest stage I&rsquo;ll ever be on. The songs are popular but the accent is something that I need to work with. As Filipinos, we don&rsquo;t really have the British accent and this something that I have to practice. <br \/><br \/><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><br \/>How does it feel to be working with stage actors like Joanna Ampil and the others?<\/strong><\/span><br \/><br \/>I am very overwhelmed. I am nervous to start this project. I know I can do it. It&rsquo;s just overwhelming to do a stage play with these veteran actors like Audie, Joanna, and Leo Martinez.
